New Jersey resident Harvey Bell is actively involved with several nonprofit organizations and has headed multiple fundraising campaigns. When not engaged in professional or charitable pursuits, Harvey Bell enjoys reading the latest release by his favorite author, Daniel Silva.
Best known for his gripping spy novels, best-selling author Daniel Silva began his writing career as a journalist. While enrolled at San Francisco State University, he was offered a temporary position covering the 1984 Democratic National Convention for United Press International (UPI). After accepting a permanent position with UPI, Silva left his master’s program to become a full-time journalist. He wrote from UPI’s San Francisco office for one year before being transferred to the news agency’s headquarters in Washington, D.C. He later relocated to Cairo to cover the Iran-Iraq War as UPI’s Middle East correspondent. While on assignment, he met his future wife, NBC correspondent Jamie Gangel. Upon returning to the US, Silva became an executive producer for CNN and worked on high-profile series like Reliable Sources and Crossfire. He remained with CNN until the success of his first novel, “The Unlikely Spy,” encouraged him to work as a novelist full time.
